Defy Me
“I can't remember a single time in my life when someone apologized to me for hurting my feelings. No one has ever cared about my feelings long enough to apologize for hurting them. In my experience, I'm usually the monster. I'm the one expected to make amends.

Feelings
Jane Eyre
“Do you think I am an automaton? — a machine without feelings? and can bear to have my morsel of bread snatched from my lips, and my drop of living water dashed from my cup? Do you think, because I am poor, obscure, plain, and little, I am soulless and heartless? You think wrong! — I have as much soul as you — and full as much heart! And if God had gifted me with some beauty and much wealth, I should have made it as hard for you to leave me, as it is now for me to leave you. I am not talking to you now through the medium of custom, conventionalities, nor even of mortal flesh: it is my spirit that addresses your spirit; just as if both had passed through the grave, and we stood at God's feet, equal — as we are!”

The Tea Dragon Tapestry
“You feel like you've lost your path. It's natural to be sad. It's alright to let those feelings wash over you, and give them time to soak into the earth. That's when things start to grow again.”

For Your Own Good: Hidden Cruelty in Child-Rearing and the Roots of Violence
“In the following pages I shall apply the term "poisonous pedagogy" to this very complex endeavor. It will be clear from the context in question which of its many facets I am emphasizing at the moment. The specific facets can be derived directly from the preceding quotations from child-rearing manuals. These passages teach us that:
1. Adults are the masters (not the servants!) of the dependent child.
2. They determine in godlike fashion what is right and what is wrong.
3. The child is held responsible for their anger.
4. The parents must always be shielded.
5. The child's life affirming feelings pose a threat to the autocratic adult.
6. The child's will must be "broken" as soon as possible.
7. All this must happen at a very early age, so the child "won't notice" and will
therefore not be able to expose the adults.
The methods that can be used to suppress vital spontaneity in the child are: laying traps, lying, duplicity, subterfuge, manipulation, "scare" tactics, withdrawal of love, isolation, distrust, humiliating and disgracing the child, scorn, ridicule, and coercion even to the point of torture.”

“You are a real leader of the universe if you lead the hearts and souls than minds and bodies. The mind keeps just the knowledge that approaches its goals while the heart slips off the unlimited fragrance of love to the soul and flows within it the sea of feelings.”

Complex PTSD: From Surviving to Thriving
“Many psychologists use the term existential to describe the fact that all human beings are subject to painful events. These are the normal recurring afflictions that everyone suffers from time to time. Horrible world events, difficult choices, illnesses and periodic feelings go abject loneliness are common examples of existential pain. Existential calamities can be especially triggering for survivors, because we typically have so much family-of-origin calamity for them to trigger us into reliving.”

Advice I Ignored: Stories and Wisdom from a Formerly Depressed Teenager
“No matter how good I was, no matter how much I pleaded for it or worked for it, I could never make everyone understand me. If my self-esteem was dependent on other people’s feelings, it would never be under control. I’d be on a ship rocking back and forth between emptiness and salvation, never able to really find my feet. ”

“When something “happens,” it is only relative to the observer. Feelings of love and reverence can be feelings of fear for another. Happiness to one may be anxiety for someone else. We create what “happens” from within ourselves.”

“This isn't a joke, Emma. You told me you wanted to do this, and now you're turning my work into some sort of mockery?"
"Actually, you're the one who told me I'd want to do this. You're the one who told me I could make this what I wanted to make it, told me to let my anger out so I'd feel better. Now you want to tell me that my feelings are a mockery?”

Bird Therapy
“To share such profound experiences that day was, in simple terms, amazing. I remember the extraordinary sense of calm I felt, as if it were yesterday, a feeling that was nurtured, and grew throughout the day. A void began refilling after lying empty for a long time. I began to feel alive again.
Not only did it bring such positivity but it also brought a great sense of meaning, as if I'd found my true calling. These were all feelings that I wanted to experience again. To see more and to open my mind to the world of nature that was, itself, opening around me.”

“Our national anthem is the symbols of our country.
it represents the tradition, history, and beliefs of our nation and its people.
We South Sudanese do not need President Kiir's presence to sing it.
Oh God
we Praise and Glorify you
For your grace on South Sudan
Land of great abundance
Uphold us United in Peace and Harmony
Whenever we are singing our national anthem with our chest up and our eyes in the sky, we feel the unity, love, peace and togetherness among us as Citizens of South Sudan.
Oh! Motherland
Arise, raise your flag with the guiding star
And sing-song of freedom with joy
For justice, Liberty and prosperity
shall forever reign,
The national anthem reminds Us of Our nation’s glory, beauty, rich heritage, and most importantly it is about us, and our martyrs who sacrificed their lives for our beautiful country South Sudan but not for only you Mr President.
Oh! great patriots
Let us stand up in silence and respect
saluting our martyrs whose blood
Cemented our national foundation,
we protect our nation
oh God blessed South Sudan
The national anthem helps evoke feelings of patriotism among us South Sudanese
It also helps us South Sudan united in peace and harmony by singing it.
The questions are: Who is President Kiir to deny us this feeling of Patriotism?
Does president Kiir's presence anywhere install that feeling in our heart?
Does Sudan Sudan mean President Kiir?
Was the national anthem composed for Mr President or for our nation, its heroes, heroines, martyrs and its people who you forbid from singing it today?
Therefore, we all feel the enthusiasm when we sing.. and we don't need your permission, Mr President.
Despite the tribal and ethnic differences, we rise in Unison and Listen or Sing the national anthem with great enthusiasm. Your Government took away our basic rights and gave us tribalism and hatred.
Now Mr. president you want to take away the only things that united us.
Therefore, we all feel the enthusiasm when we sing our national anthem and we don't need your permission, Mr President.
Note: People of South Sudan. Kiir and his government want to rewrite our history into Kiir story! Don't let them.
we vow to protect our nation not Kiir and now is the time for us Citizens of South Sudan to stand up for our country.”

Flags of Our Fathers: Heroes of Iwo Jima
“December 1944. The last Christmas for too many young boys. Then off for the forty-day sail to Iwo Jima. The boys of Spearhead had been expertly trained for ten months. They were proficient in the techniques of war. But more important, they were a team, ready to fight for one another. These boys were bonded by feelings stronger than they would have for any other humans in their life.
The vast, specialized city of men — boys, really, but a functioning society of experts now, trained and coordinated and interdependent and ready for its mission — will move out upon the Pacific. Behind them, in safe America, Bing Crosby sang of a white Christmas, just like the ones he used to know. Ahead lay a hot island of black sand, where many of them would ensure a long future of Christmases in America by laying down their lives.”

“There is something I want to tell you. But it's going to become more obvious over time. And you wouldn't believe it if I told you, or at least you wouldn't want to believe it. This is one of those things that must be discovered for oneself."
"Audrey, what the devil are you talking about?"
Folding her narrow arms across her chest, his sister-in-law contemplated him sternly. And yet a strange little smile kept tugging at the corners of her lips. "If you are at all a gentleman," she finally said, "you will call on Beatrix tomorrow and apologize for hurting her feelings. Go during one of your walks with Albert- she'll be glad to see

Speaking Up for Animals: An Anthology of Women's Voices
“The sex trade is also flourishing under the patriarchal objectification of women, paid for by men who are willing and able to own or rent a girl (or sometimes a woman) for sex. Those who are exploited are comparatively powerless, and cannot refuse sexual advances or deny the wishes of those who pay (someone else) for their services.
In these situations and many others, men own and control the bodies of women as they own and control the bodies of sows and cows and hens. Sexual exploitation of human females for the benefit of males is mirrored in contemporary animal industries. Men who control animal industries exploit females for their reproductive abilities as if nonhuman animals
were objects devoid of will and sensation. Sows are treated as if they were bacon factories and cows are treated as if they were milk machines. Sows,
cows, hens, turkeys, and horses are artificially inseminated to bring profits to the men who control their bodies and their lives. Women in the sex trade are similar to factory farmed females . . . .
Even comparatively privileged women in relatively fortunate marriages can readily be likened to sows and cows. . . . The reproductive abilities of women and other female animals are controlled and exploited by those in power (usually men) and both
are devalued as they age and wear out—when they no longer reproduce. Cows, hens, and women are routinely treated as if they were objects to be
manipulated in order to satisfy the desires of powerful men, without regard to female's wishes or feelings.”

The INTP: Personality, Careers, Relationships, & the Quest for Truth and Meaning
“For INTPs to remain fully committed to and invested in the relationship, there are times when they must review the reasons and rationale for the relationship. Of course, this can be extremely difficult and scary for most partners. Feeling types, in particular, may fail to see why INTPs cannot simply rely on feelings to stay connected. They may struggle to see how the elusive nature of INTPs’ feelings may cause them to lose sight of why they are in the relationship.
It can also be beneficial for INTPs and their partners to periodically review the INTP’s Ti reasons for being in the relationship. This might include, for instance, highlighting the value of the relationship with respect to mutual learning and exploration.”

The INTP: Personality, Careers, Relationships, & the Quest for Truth and Meaning
“In contending with their own inner beast, they may experience any number of dark thoughts or urges. These may range from suicidal thoughts, to intense feelings of hatred, to fantasies of criminal acts. Generally, such thoughts are rather short-lived, truncated by a diminishment of the emotion, effective distractions, a return of Ti reasonability, or some combination thereof. But if INTPs dwell in darkness for any sustained period of time, they may find themselves in serious trouble. Of all types, they are probably the least likely to seek outside help, putting them at greater risk for becoming a victim of their own dark side.”

The INTP: Personality, Careers, Relationships, & the Quest for Truth and Meaning
“Because INTPs are relatively ill-equipped to navigate emotionally-difficult situations, their inferior Fe is inclined to do all it can to defend itself. Hence, in emotionally intense or chaotic situations, INTPs may suddenly be overwhelmed with feelings of rage and anger, which, left unmitigated, may quickly transport them to the dark side.”
